HOW TO APPLY FOR THE GNBCC SUMMER INTERNSHIP PROGRAM?
To start the process, submit a one page essay to email@example.com. If we approve your essay, we will contact you for an interview. In the essay please address:
1) What interests you about breast cancer prevention and environmental links to breast cancer?
2) Why you would like to intern in a laboratory?
Ask either your science research teacher, biology or chemistry teacher for a recommendation and send to: firstname.lastname@example.org
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE IN THIS PROGRAM?
High school sophomores and juniors residing in Nassau County who are in either their high school science research program, have taken or are taking AP Biology or AP Chemistry are eligible.
Most opportunities are for high school juniors.
HOW LONG IS THE SUMMER INTERNSHIP?
The internships available are from 3 – 8 week periods depending on the research facility.
WHO PAYS EXPENSES FOR THE GNBCC INTERNSHIP?
GNBCC has paid for most of the internship expenses over the past 10 years, especially for room and board (meals) and for some transportation expenses. This all depends on the annual status of our funding. Parents and schools will sometimes need to pay some of the internship expenses.
WHERE ARE THE INTERNSHIPS GENERALLY LOCATED?
The labs that GNBCC partners with are located in the Northeast, mostly New York, Massachusetts and Connecticut. Out-of-town housing is provided at college and university campuses.
