  • Seek using safer alternatives to toxic pesticides in and around the house: www.beyondpesticides.org
  • Choose organic produce when possible and learn about the “Clean 15” and “Dirty Dozen”: http://www.ewg.org/foodnews/summary.php
  • Choose storing food and beverages in stainless steel and glass containers instead of plastic
  • Look for fabric or hemp shower curtains instead of plastic ones.
  • Keep sales receipts, which may contain BPA, to a minimum in your pockets or pocketbook.

  • Avoid using non-stick pans which contain the carcinogen “PFOA”.
  • Purchase household cleaners that are non-toxic, and don't contain warning labels that says: "Danger" or "Poison" or "Warning": http://www.ewg.org/guides/cleaners
  • Make your own less toxic cleaners with vinegar, borax, lemon juice, hydrogen peroxide.
  • Avoid chemical air fresheners since they may contain formaldehyde, phthalates and other toxic chemicals. Use products with essential oils instead.
  • Avoid sunscreens with “Oxybenzone”, a hormone disruptor and skin allergen. Instead look for active ingredients with zinc oxide or titanium dioxide,or avobenzone (3%) http://www.ewg.org/2014sunscreen/
